Welcome!
I’m a 23-year-old Museum Manager at Cynon Valley Museum. Originally from the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, I’ve found myself in Swansea, Leicester, Oxford, and Mansfield over the past four years and now I’m back in Swansea, on my quest for the holy grail, a museums career.
I’ve finally got the job I want- managing an incredible army of volunteers, a museum with massive potential and my own time- in a recently reopened museum in the South Wales Valleys. This is my story- how I got here, what I do and what makes me want to tear my hair out.
I’m interested in outreach work, community engagement, learning and volunteer management in museums. I’m open to working for any type of museum, with any theme (or lack of!) within their collection. I’ve worked in local authority, university run and independent museums, and I’m keen to continue to vary my experience.
My historical interests mainly lie within Ancient Egyptian trade, the late Roman Empire, and Viking history, but I’m not one to turn down a visit or book on any topic. I’m also an avid fan of Harry Potter and Game of Thrones, dog-enthusiast, reader, and can’t help but love those hikes that nearly kill you but are so worth the view at the end (thanks, Dad).
